Dr Willem & Celesté Nel

Willem and Celesté responded to God’s call to the city and campus ministry and began serving students in Potchefstroom. They held their first first-years camp in 1993, joined the His People family in 1997, and became His People Potchefstroom the following year. What began with a handful of students has grown into Every Nation Faith City. An early promise from Isaiah 58 still shapes how the church understands its place in the city: where there is a climate of hope, people will believe again.

For more than three decades, they have served with a passion to see lives transformed by the good news of Jesus Christ and to build a multisite, multicultural, multigenerational and missional church that makes disciples, reaches the next generation, serves the city and carries the gospel to the nations.

Willem serves as Visionary Leader of Every Nation Faith City (author of A Silent Adventure, Moving a Church from Good to Great through Value-Based Leadership, and Making the Impossible Possible; PhD in Public Practical Theology). Celesté co-leads the church, serves as a teaching pastor, leads content research, and directs city-wide women's ministries.

They deeply value family, sharing life with their children Guilliam and Lindi, Charmoré and Hanrie, Ann-Waniq and D’Ianrew, and their first grandchild Danté.
